Tarian Ombak
Tarian Ombak is another double ended design study. She is inspired by the Madura Islands boats of Indonesia. Most Maduranese boats use a suspended rudder and an unusual lateen rig configuration that look very similar to my Papillon sail design. Tarian Ombak is designed with a Gunter rig which is very common in Asia, and a Papillon sail that is an adaptation of the typical Crab Claw sail from the region. The traditional suspended rudder is replaced by a modern kick up rudder on each side. |
